MANILA, Philippines—F2 Logistics strengthened its bid for a semifinals spot after outlasting Choco Mucho in four sets in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, 25-23, 25-19, 13-25, 25-22, at Philsports Arena on Tuesday.

Coach Regine Diego expressed her joy after the Cargo Movers improved to a 5-2 record despite an intense showdown against the Flying Titans, who dropped to a dangerous 2-3 record.

“We’re happy that even if this is a cardiac game, we still won. As long as we win, we’re happy but we can’t relax, especially now because this is not done yet. I always tell them to stop when they’re done, not when they’re tired,” Diego said in Filipino.

“At least they are all ready, all the time.”

Choco Mucho and F2 Logistics were caught in an 18-all stalemate in the fourth set before the Cargo Movers went on a 6-3 exchange fueled by Kim Kianna Dy and Elaine Kasilag to reach match point, 24-21.

Maddie Madayag breathed some life into the Flying Titans’ bid to pull them within 24-22 but Dy, who finished with a game-high 23 points, took matters into her own hands and served the game-winning kill.

The third set, however, saw F2 Logistics fizzle down after losing one of its key players in Myla Pablo due to cramps.

Choco Mucho doubled down on defense to get a 17-10 lead over the Cargo Movers. Since then, F2 Logistics scored only three points until the set’s finish with Kat Tolentino sealing the set win, 25-13.

“Unfortunately, Ate My [Pablo] got cramped up but we just used that as motivation and we said this game would be for her,” Dy said.

Before Pablo sat out the rest of the game, she had 15 points. Aby Maraño also scored 12 in the F2 win.

Bea De Leon served as Choco Mucho’s silver lining, finishing with 17 markers. Tolentino chipped in 16 in the loss while Madayag also contributed 12 in the loss.

As it stands, only Creamline is assured of semifinals berth after defeating PLDT earlier in the day to acquire a 6-1 record. F2 Logistics’ win also eliminated Cignal and Akari from playoff contention.
